We’re almost there! Let’s make affordable healthcare a reality in New Mexico.
Together, we had groundbreaking victories at the legislative session that will be game changers for affordable and equitable healthcare in New Mexico! Over the years, you have made countless phone calls, emails and public comment in committee hearings—and our efforts worked. The Legislature passed a Healthcare Affordability Fund and key protections for our families against medical debt!
But we have one more step—we need the governor to sign these bills into law.
Please contact Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham this week and ask her to sign SB 71, HB 112, and SB 317. Call her office at (505) 476-2200 and leave a short message, or email her using this form: https://www.governor.state.nm.us/contact-the-governor/..
SB 71 Patients’ Debt Collection Protection Act will stop collections against low-income patients for hospital and certain medical facility bills and help families get connected with healthcare coverage that can pay for their care.
HB 112 Non-Discrimination in State and Local Healthcare Programs will make it illegal to discriminate against immigrants in any healthcare program funded solely with state or local dollars.
SB 317: Healthcare Affordability Fund & No Behavioral Health Cost Sharing will raise more than $160 million to drive down healthcare costs and get coverage for tens of thousands more people, laying a foundation for healthcare for all.
The Governor has until April 9 to sign legislation and has started the process already.
