Medicaid Forward is an exciting opportunity for New Mexico to lead the nation in healthcare affordability. By unlocking Medicaid’s income cap, Medicaid Forward would allow our families to access a truly affordable plan through the program.
Monday, February 27, 2023 at 8:30am, the House Health & Human Services Committee will hear House Bill 400, which puts the wheels in motion for New Mexico to achieve Medicaid Forward. Let’s continue to make our voices heard!

Summary of HB 400
HB 400 starts the process for studying, designing, and implementing Medicaid Forward. The state Medicaid agency would conduct a comprehensive study of implementing Medicaid Forward. The agency would present its findings to the Legislature by October 2024. The Legislature would then need to fund implementation so enrollment could begin by January 2026.

The House Health & Human Services Committee has asked to keep public comment brief on the day of the hearing. We ask that you spend some time today and throughout the weekend contacting committee members by calling their office and asking them to pass HB 400 to provide affordable healthcare for all New Mexicans.
