Join New Mexico Together for Healthcare to hear from experts, advocates, and legislators about New Mexico’s opportunity to lead the country in healthcare reform this session
SANTA FE, NM — On Thursday, February 23, community advocates, healthcare providers, and policy and legal experts from New Mexico Together for Healthcare will be joined by legislators in a press conference at the Roundhouse to demand the legislature uses this year’s session to expand access to affordable coverage for thousands of New Mexicans through Medicaid Forward and the Healthcare Affordability Fund.
Medicaid Forward, which was filed this month, is a historic opportunity to continue New Mexico’s leadership in healthcare affordability by allowing residents whose incomes are too high to qualify for Medicaid to instead purchase an affordable plan through the program. This session, the legislature also has the opportunity to use the Healthcare Affordability Fund as designed to provide access to affordable coverage for the first time to many, including Native American and Indigenous peoples and immigrant members of our communities.
